Silurian facies from the G-14 well offshore Northern Germany [Die Fazies des Silur in der norddeutschen Offshore-Bohrung G-14.]

Abstract :
Four sedimentary facies are recognised from the Silurian sequence in the G-14 well, offshore Northern Germany. These comprise a laminated mudstone facies, a graded mudstone facies, a graded siltstone/fine-grained sandstone facies and a microconglomerate facies. Palaeoenvironmental interpretation of these facies suggests that the area was a shelf region influenced by both storm and gravity current processes.
